I have picked up a lot of knowledge from the generous authors and editors who have invested in me over my writing journey. Now I want to pass this knowledge on to you through my editing services. While I take on manuscripts throughout the entire year, I can take on more projects during the summer.

In a content edit, I edit:
  • Story concept (Will your concept draw in readers? Is it believable? Does it have the makings of a full story?)
  • Plot structure (Is your story hitting the right beats in the right places? Is the pacing right?)
  • Character arcs (Are your characters changing over the story? Is the pacing right?)
  • Theme (Do I know what you're trying to say? Is it overbearing or too subtle?)

Line Edit

In a line edit, I edit:
  • Plot structure (finetuning the beats of the story)
  • Character arcs (finetuning the character's change)
  • Theme (finetuning manifestation of theme)
  • Stylistic errors (Are any sentences or passages confusing? Should anything be reworded?)
  • Plotholes (Does anything in the story not line up?)

Copy Edit

In a copy edit, I edit:
  • Grammar
  • Spelling
  • Capitalization
  • Punctuation
  • Typos.

Content Guidelines

I have set up some personal guidelines for myself in my reading to keep myself from reading things that I don't want in my head. I apply those guidelines to my editing as well. Please do not send me any manuscripts that contain:

  • Dark creatures (demons, zombies, werewolves, ghosts, vampires, etc.)
  • Dark magic, witchcraft, wizardry, or sorcery
  • Graphic/disturbing depictions of physical abuse or self-harm
  • Horror manuscripts
  • Language
  • Sexual language or content
  • Violent/immoral choices that are glorified or have no consequences
  • Violence that is gory or disturbing (anything above a PG-13 rating)

I reserve the right to reject any manuscript at my discretion if I am uncomfortable with the content. Payment

I charge $10.00 per hour spent editing the manuscript. (This applies for content edits, line edits, copy edits, or any combination of the three.)
